Nurturing our youth

"Hands-on activities, appropriate adult mentors and community service ..."

Youth development, the process of growing up and developing one’s capacities, happens no matter what we do. The challenge is to promote positive youth development and plan quality experiences with young people. Lighthouse believes in a future of possibilities for our youth. That is why we team up with various community partners to help nurture and develop our youth through skill development activities, sports, and by connecting youth to the work that we do.

Together with our partners, the Neighborhood Services department helps build the leaders of the future by intentionally engaging youth and at-risk youth in neighborhood events/projects that will contribute to their growth and success. Through the Southtown Matching Fund (SMF), we seek to promote projects that foster creativity, innovation and leadership.
